Spotlight on Support: Adoption

As part of The Mommies Network, LakeNormanMommies is a free community for moms in the Lake Norman Area, North Carolina. We realize that all moms need local support -- and who can't use another friend? LakeNormanMommies offers a simple way to connect with local moms for friendship, support and fun. In addition to general discussion forums, LakeNormanMommies offers a variety of specialized support forums for moms to discuss challenges and celebrate successes with other moms in similar situations. One such source of support is the Adoption forum.

The Adoption forum is a private place for adoptees, adoptive/foster moms, and birthmothers to come together in support of one another. Our members who are just starting the adoption or foster care process and have questions about agency referrals, how to survive the homestudy, or need a place to share their feelings of anticipation as they await matching with a birthmom, will always find an empathetic friend waiting with words of encouragement. Our moms who have already been through the adoption process are an invaluable resource with their wealth of information and support, yet at the same time they may be facing their own challenges with the adjustment period, bonding with their child, finalization procedures or building positive relationships with a birthfamily. For moms who have made an adoption plan for their child and our moms who were placed for adoption, the forum provides a safe environment for discussing what their personal experiences have been, especially as they work through the often complicated task of reunion, maneuvering through new relationships or reconciling old ones.

This forum is open to moms who have adopted, want to adopt, were adopted, or have placed a child for adoption. If you fit the criteria for membership, click here to request access to this private group. This forum is moderated by a member of The Leadership Team.

This is great support for mothers who are considering adoption! I know during my daughter's adoption process, I couldn't help but think if I would be a good enough parent. I struggled to help myself better understand the needs of my daughter and found good advice on sites like http://onlineceucredit.com/edu/social-work-ceus-iap I definitely recommend taking a look and hope it helps any parent considering adoption out there as well!
