It’s the time of year when we, as mommies, are busy decorating with pumpkins, mums, and skeletons.  We are busy researching and buying, or even making, for those of us who are really creative, our little ones Halloween costumes. We have most likely talked to them about it, gotten their ever changing ideas, and bought or made, whatever their little hearts desired.  We did so with love, because every kid deserves a chance to Trick or Treat, right?

Here’s where I ask you to think about helping another child trick or treat.  We all probably have an old Halloween costume hanging in a child’s closet.  I know it has memories attached to it and maybe you are debating having a younger sibling donning the same costume one day, but I am going to ask you to consider something else... 

How about talking to your child about donating that costume to Goodwill so a child who might not otherwise have the opportunity to trick or treat can have a Happy Halloween this year?  Halloween is so tangible to children.  They look forward to, anticipate it, LOVE it with every fiber on their being.  Talk to them about sharing that joy with another child.  Then have them bring the costume to Goodwill with you.  Remind them on Halloween night about the child that they helped allow to join in the fun.  Then, of course, brag about your generous, compassionate child in the LKNM Has Heart forum.

Because EVERY kid deserves a chance to get hopped on sugar and Trick or Treat, right?
