This is great support for mothers who are considering adoption! I know during my daughter's adoption process, I couldn't help but think if I would be a good enough parent. I pulled my son out of here in Aug 2011, we enrolled him when he was 2yr. We was very happy the first yr, he was learning. After that yr it went down hill, we were not happy with the education he was suppose to be getting I felt like I was paying for a high end babysitter. Not a private school. It is true about the doors being broken, they stayed like that for a awhile and were still not working when i pulled him out. My son also got bitten on different occasions and no correction. Everytime I stopped in , I would walk in the class and all the kids would just be playing in centers. Only a couple times i walked in and they were in a circle time actually learning. We had this strong feeling that they were just babysitting, everyday I would ask my son "What did you learn today" his response ...Nothing Mommy!! At this time he was 3-4yrs old...the first yr i had him there he was 2..when I would ask him same question, he would tell me what he learned. I first thought it was going to be a great school, but sadly to say NO WAY. We pulled him out and we are very happy that we did.

I wanted to take the time to write this for any parents that may be looking for daycare or even had these problems in the past.

When my maternity leave was over I decided to take my LO to the Goddard School of Lake Norman. It was a 5 star school and seemed to have a decent reputation. Boy was I wrong! My son attended this school for 1 year and a quarter. In that short time:

· Food wasn’t even opened or offered to him on multiple occasions, but listed on his daily sheet as eaten.

· They listed food that was eaten on his daily sheet that I didn’t provide and he didn’t eat.

· They offered horribly unhealthy snacks such as cheese puffs, marshmallows, Oreos, etc.

· They tried to put my then 11 month old on a mat even though all the other children in his class got cribs. (And add that they were completely ignoring the safe sleep policy!)

· They threw their teachers under the bus for any mistakes or lied about them.

· My son was bitten 18-19 times with no help or correction. It broke the skin twice and when we asked the process (the first time it happened) they did not know and acted mad that we’d even ask.

· Their “secure” door was broken for months (and still broken when I left) even though it left the school wide open (often times with no one in the front office.) They repeatedly made excuses saying they were going to fix it, but didn’t.

· No one ever communicated. Teachers were left in the dark, the school was unorganized (and messy!) and they parents were usually last to find out in regards to their children. And most of the time you’d hear different stories/ facts from different employees.

· When I brought these things up to the administration I was told: I am a first time mom and they know better, they are friends with their state rep- if there was an issue they’d just talk to her about it, and that they know how their school is run and have no inclination to change it.

So we left. And we are VERY happy we did. Now I just want to put this out there so no other parents are duped by this school. I know not everyone will have this experience, but we did so you could too.

Thank you so much for the tips. I try and eat healthy after my kid was born. I had forgotten when the last time we went to a fast food chain for drive thru or take out. We always cook our own food. Only problem at times is that we can never find good local organic fruits/vegetables in our are.

I could have written this myself. Thanks for saying everything that I've been feeling - it's good to hear that I'm not alone. I had to return to work when my husband got laid off. I cry every day on the way to work and it never gets better. Last week he started a new job. I put my son in the best daycare I could find, right by my work, but it's awful. The guilt and sadness that i feel being away from him is overwhelming. My friends without children think it's unhealthy. I think that for me, it's just being a mom. With my husband back at work, I feel like the only way for me to happy is to say "I quit."

Hello Jill! We must be long lost twins! So glad you gave me a shout out. And yes my house does a lot of rocking and rolling. As for my husbands business, I'm doing everything in my power NOT to help him. HA HA HA HA! We would kill each other if we worked together. We are putting our 2 year old in preschool at the LKN YMCA in Cornelius this fall. We love it there. Good luck with your search!
